* seperate all the frames in my video recording so i can draw over every frame
* spend up to 10 hours a day to draw over each frame, and use some time to make any improvements over the day
* save the animation each day in 2 seperate files (WIP and trial)
* when drawing is complete each day, amke sure to test it
* when fully finished, make sure you've left time to decide whether you wish to add colour or leave black and white (recommended)
* test final product and see if any improvements could be made ( such as extra frames or removing frames)
average frame count per second = 24
24 x 11seconds = 264 frames
i hope to do atleast 300 frames
1 frame = 10 minutes (acurately/ neatly drawn)
10 frames = 1 hour 40 minutes
10 hours = estimated 71 frames
300 / 71 = 4.2 days
working 5 hours per day = 8.4 days - recommended work load
backgroud
moving - will add atleast 2 days onto the time spent on the animation
still - only an hour onto the time
still but different backgrounds ( camera angles) 2+ hours
* finish any unfinished development work
* neaten up drawn work and planning
* start ahead - begin planning characters, animation style and different back grounds for the next animation ( if im able to do a second one)

overview game project
as i am unable to make a full game, i made a demo of one stage, this stage will be like the others, but as you progress in the proper game, it will get harder and harder, on this one stage you will run into an elf called theresa, she is not easily tricked, and is quite powerful, so any slight slip up and she will kill you, with no hesitation, she wears elvish mage robes with runes on the front, quite a basic dress.
everyone in the land/ all the character have a disliking towards demons so they do not go easy against Christopher ( your character) flattery will not be tolerated, and if you try to force through any of them, you'll be killed on the spot, so be careful
in the demo stage/ the first stage, you will walk through a maze on a grassy field, until you reach large gates in which is being blocked by the elf, there you will have to make conversation and try and persuade the elf to let you through, can you do it? if you get through you win, if you don't, and you get killed, its the end of the line for you sadly
this is what the main screen looks like ( except without the play button) all the screens before the actual game starts looks like this, same back ground, same font, same colours, i like to keep a consistant style within the game to make it look moe professional, so i used the same font throughout the game, with a little extra different font for explenations and such. i've named my game "dont die, dont fail" as this is the main objective, just dont fail! you have to get through the level, if you dont, the game will lead to the death/ failure screen and that will be it for you, you lose!
this is what the main section looks like, it has a visual novel style lay out, where the text and options come up at the bottom, while you can also seen the character showing emotions and reacting to your choices.
the pink text is the character "theresa" talking, and the white is you, i planned to do something like this, same design, font and colour arrangement for each character if i was to create a full game, except the colours would be different depending on the character.
some of the choices you only get one chance, other ones you can re do but that is mainly in the beginning of the game, as you get further on their may be less choices, but it makes it a little harder to find the right path as you are un able to re do your steps. be careful.

list - planning a game project
in able to make my game i need to make a list of all the assets i will need for the game, and i will also need to write on what i need to do in order to achieve my asset etc etc
first thing first is i need to do the character designs so i have a clear idea on what my characters would look like, even though i want my game to be in a birds eye view style, when interating with another character, it will turn into a visual novel kind of thing, where you see the top half of the body, with a box of text and choices etc etc
character desgins - digital and traditional drawings - must draw their face and hair with some expression showing how the character is and also a full body shot to show their outfit
sprite - i must create sprites for all the characters especially the main character mostly, as the main character will be walking around, the others wont be, so i need to draw several sprites in several different ways to obtain the correct walking animation, for the other characters, they will just be standing still so simple sprites will be needed for these
back grounds - all back grounds will be still and drawn however i will need to create sprites and such to block the character from walking over trees, and off the map/ over fences etc. so to also do this i will need to program it properly in construct 2 to make sure the character doesnt walking through certain things
visual novel style - for this to work i'm going to need to create different positions of each character to show their emotions and actions when the main character says something right or wrong, not only this but i will need to edit in alot of text and path ways to make sure you either end up with a bad ending or a good ending

research - making a game project (open project)
games
Games, what makes a game? How do we define that something is a game? Well as
far as we know, a game is something in which we play and get entertainment out
of the games in which we play today, such as halo, or destiny, but that is not necessarily
correct, a game is something in which has both a winning and losing factor, if
you cannot win or lose, it isn’t exactly classed as a game. An example of a
game could be “one chance” it may not seem to have both a win or loss factor,
but it does, the winning/good ending is just quite depressing, the aim of the game is to save the world and you have
only one chance, the losing factor is when you end up dying and not saving the
world, the winning factor is when you’re able to make a cure (for an gas
induced “so called cancer cure” which is killing everyone) but are only able to
cure either yourself, or yourself and your daughter, an example of something
which people would probably class a game but isn’t could be halo, there is no
win or lose factor for this game, if you die, you re-spawn, and I doubt
completing the game could be classed as winning, the only way this could be
classed as a proper game in any way is if when the player died, they stopped
playing all together or they deleted the character, same with winning, to win
you’d have to never die and when the credits roll, you never play again, but no one would really do that...
another example could be minecraft, this is a sandbox "game" it's called a game but not actually a game as there is no win or lose factor, just.. building of blocks.

induction project/ evaluation
hello this is my induction project, for it i had to create a character in a post apocalyptic world, i have created a back story for her however when reading it it may not seem post apocalyptic, but it is, believe me the world is almost fully destroyed, people and battling for their lives.
for starters i have created some sketches, vague sketches, due to the fact all items for any character would be chosen from personal preference, so i wrote about the basics of the different Armour which could be used, clothing and sword type!

these are all basic sketches and annotations of the basic Armour requirements you'll need in a battle, such as leg plate, chest plate, arm plate etc etc
next i did some character designs i did 3 character designs as i did have a few basic ideas in my head, but i wanted to make 3 very detailed drawings of my ideas and pick which one i liked the most
i decided to go along with the green and white design ( the second one) as it seemed alot more interesting, especially with the large shoulder plates
the see through areas of clothing are created from plasma, it is all basically plasma Armour, it will protect you from bullets and lasers,
orthographics
this was my first attempt at creating the orthorgraphics for my
character, it didnt go well as nothing really matched up with the size
of the face/ the shape etc, it all looked quite messy to be honest, so i
kept trying to improve it

this is some of my improvements, here i am working on the shaping of the head and how to draw heads in a different way, which is alot better than what i was doing before, doing this method which is kind of shown make this alot more align with each other, and even
here are my final orthorgraphics, where i have the side and front shot, and an attempt at doing a 45 degree angle shot, these orthorgraphics are alot better then the first attempt, as these ones line up correctly, they are alot more even, the shape has improved.
drawing my character
this is merely just a head shot of the character, the reason behind it is to: 1) show her face in action, when she is charging into battle etc, and 2) to see the eye detail as im not good at drawing it when i do full body pictures
this is an action stance (sort of) of my character, both traditionally drawn and digitally, the one on the right is meerly a quick sketch where as the one on the left is to show colour and the detail/ plasma of the sword etc.
Creating my characters head
CLAY
first off i started with just creating a simple skull out of some special clay so i could get the basics of a head shape, due to the fact the shape of a head has many bumps and curves to it, so crafting a skull can give me a very good idea of how it should look

here is the small bust i created of my character out of some more special type of clay, it isn't 100% accurate but i was able to get some hair spikiness in, the shoulder plates, and also the bandages around the right eye.
MUDBOX
mud box is a software used for creating models of any kind, i used a simple bust model to create my character, now for this part of the project i was meant to put it into maya and make it look pretty (render it to add light/ shadow/ effect to it) but i have no idea how to do that ( seriously ive done research upon it , ive asked people and i still cant do it) so i took some screen shots of my bust instead at many different angles! seeing as this was my first ever attempt at creating something like this, it obviously isn't going to be great.
evaluation
overall i think this project was okay, it was fun doing something ive never done before, but trying to get it all done in a matter of 2 weeks is a little tricky for me as i do get ill alot and have to miss out quite abit, which means i have to try and get certain software at home so i can do the work i need to, i disliked creating the heads with the clay, as clay can dry really fast so if you dont work fast you cant make your model, and i can't do fast, i prefer to take my time with things. making a 3d model in mud box is alot easier,however the software is faulty and easily crashes and breaks, so it is quite hard to get anything done under these circumstances. as said the photoshop/ digital drawing was done last minute, i cant work photoshop, it isnt my favorite software, so it is difficult for me to draw on it, overall this project may have been fun but it was difficult, mainly because i was using things for the first time and we only had 2 weeks to do it, so it was a bit of a rush.

Information:
Name: Rose Sinclair
Age: 22
Born: 16th march 2945
Faction/guild: Emerald
Rose Sinclair lives in the year 2967, where everything is run
by plasma energy. After the year 2900, the world got split into two, the east,
and the west, and since they split, they have been at war with each other to
see who could be the rightful rulers of the earth, another reason they are at
war, is because the west side own most of the plasma energy in the world, the
east have hardly any, so they decided to declare war against the west
The east
For the east to declare war, they took all materials and
plasma energy they had into creating powerful machinery and robots/ mechas to
destroy those of the west side, killing the people, destroying the land and
taking all plasma energy they could, they thought that once they have obtained
all the energy and killed all those who belong in the west, they could live
peaceful lives, with upgrading their machinery even more to advance their lives
seeing as they would have a lot more plasma, so they could not only live on
longer, and in better conditions but everything will be equal again
The west
The west were peaceful, and rich in energy until they got
attacked by the east, it took a while before the west could fight back, using
their high amount of plasma energy, they were able to create weapons and armour
strong enough to withstand attacks from the machinery, and attack back,
defending themselves and those around them, those who would fight for the west
west where split into 4 groups: sapphire, ruby, emerald and diamond. These are
basically the different factions throughout the west, it shows what rank you are
in, the elite fighters would be in diamond, emerald would just be below diamond
then it would follow by sapphire and ruby, ruby being the worst fighters, so
they were usually made to upgrade weapons, and Armour.
Rose
Rose lived her life in safety as her family where put up to
fight the east and not her, even though this war has been going on for almost a
century, she has wondered why it hasn’t yet ended. However she noticed the west
began to develop more and become more powerful as she got older, by the age of
12 her parents got upgraded to the diamond faction so she pretty much felt
safe, she didn’t have to worry about this war, or worry about having to
becoming a fighter, yet she secretly trained by swinging a sword around now and
then and sparing with her friends By the
age of 18 she was forced to start fighting for the west, usually you would
start at an early age, however rose was hidden for quite a while, as she was
too scared to fight, her family got killed by the east when she was only 16, so
it resulted in her hiding away, she was found though 2 years later, however
because of her unnatural fighting skills, which she was able to develop mainly
on pure adrenalin and plasma energy which she was able to fuse with her own
body (kind of like drug taking, if you swallow, sniff and inject the plasma
energy into you, you will get side affects which can be permanent, which is
what happened to her) she was ranked into the emerald fraction not too long
after joining the fight, she was however offered to join the diamond fraction,
but declined as, just a mention of the diamond faction bought back memories of
her dead family, which caused her to have a terrifying but dramatic mental
break down.
She wears a white dress, with green plasma Armour on top of
it to deflect any robotic attacks; her weapon consists of a large green plasma
great sword, which can be turned into a plasma rifle by a few flicks of the
wrist.
evaluation

induction
this is beginning of a new year of game development, and so i will be doing a 2 week long project to welcome myself back into the year, for this project i will be required to create some 3d models of heads, of a character i design in a post apocolyptic world, i get to create everything for the character and everything around the character, all back story, images, drawings, working, progress etc will be posted upon this blog! enjoy!
